The client needed detailed process engineering, equipment layouts, and piping design and drawings for the conversion of a Wet Corn Mill to a 30 MGY ethanol production facility.
The project included:
- Mass and Energy balance for the facility both wet mill and ethanol components
- Development and compilation of P&ID’s
- Development and compilation of equipment specifications
- Obtain and compile vendor Quotations
- Equipment design and specifications to meet updated fire codes relevant to ethanol production
- 3-D model of the ethanol facility and selected areas of the wet mill that were modified
- Equipment layout plans and elevations
- Coordination between structural design, layout, distillation and dehydration
- Prepare all the permit drawings for the facility
- Prepare all HAZOP drawings required for the review
- 3-D model of the piping systems in the ethanol facility. Specific areas included: Liquifaction, Secondary reaction, Primary and secondary cooling, fermentation, interconnections between distillation and dehydration, storage, loadout, process water, cooling water, chemical systems and yeast separation and recovery.
