The client approached ADF with a request to provide engineering services to redesign piping that would replace an aging system for a caustic treatment process. The intent of the project was to improve the pipe material specifications, provide better ergonomics through valve placement and install required safety valves to ensure personnel safety while maintaining the system. Due to the risk of working in close proximity of the caustic material for extended periods of time ADF utilized laser scanning technology for field data collection. This approach minimized exposure time, reduced required field personnel needed and ensured critical tie in points were accurately recorded.
The complete project package was developed including:
- 3-D modeling of the new pipe routing with existing equipment and tie in location incorporated
- Construction package that included: piping, layout, isometrics and demolition plans
