Oil Blending Facility Design
Our industrial baking oil blender client wanted to build a new state-of-the-art oil blending operation that had the flexibility to blend standard, non-GMO, and organic oils for their six business units serving their clients in the baking industry.
WORK COMPLETED:
- Develop the conceptual process facility design:
- Process design that included:
- Process Flow diagrams and P&IDs
- Develop conceptual equipment specifications for 50 items for the process and all associated utilities.
- Obtained budgetary equipment and instrument quotes
- Develop utility requirements and balances, including hot water and nitrogen blanketing of tanks
- Assist client and fire protection vendor to design fire suppression system
- Mechanical design that included:
- Conceptual 3D model of two layout options
- Layout design and 3D model included all tanks, pumps, heat exchangers and office areas for the new process
- Civil/structural design included:
- Site plan with proposed facility layout
- All required spill containment
- Tank access platforms and associated fall protection
- Electrical design included:
- Review of existing electrical infrastructure and developed a list of required additional power needed for new facility process
- Project Management support included:
- Delivered estimate of probable cost
- Developed engineering deliverable schedule and proposed construction schedule
- Coordinated all engineering disciplines with local contractors to maximize constructability into the design
- Lead weekly project status meetings and provided reports for client
